Reviews:

By most U.K. band standards, three years from inception to long-playing debutrepresents a rather protracted gestation. Was Sing-Sing worth the wait? Forfans of the late, great Lush, yes; guitarist Emma Anderson has a new gal-palfoil in honeydew-throated vocalist Lisa O'Neill (Locust), and with theadventurous production and multi-instrumental wizardry of Mark Van Hoen (Locust,Scala) there's um, a lush pop groove afoot. The album is framed equallyin shoegazey psychedelia, swinging '60s Joe Meekian soundscapes and richly-huedelectronica. Other touchstones include St. Etienne ("Tegan") and EdwynCollins (the thumping "A Girl Like You" vibe of 1998 hit single "FeelsLike Summer," which includes a sneaky Tommy James & the Shondells sample). And don't shut off the player after the miasmic magical mystery tour closingtune "I Can See You"-a sweet chamberpop duet between O'Neilland Departure Lounge's Tim Keegan is tucked away as an uncredited bonustrack.
