The Gathering are without a doubt one of the most pioneering bands in the metal and rock genre at the turn of the millennium and forerunners for many bands that were to follow a similar musical development in the following years, away from death metal and towards rockier and more spherical sounds. It's hard to believe that the band was on the verge of breaking up in the mid-nineties, before the exceptional singer Anneke van Giersbergen and The Gathering found each other and embarked on a successful new path for many years. Drummer and mastermind Hans Rutten comments on this decision as follows:

When a woman is ready to sing in a band, she usually means it more seriously than the many run-of-the-mill guys who think bleating into a microphone will make them frontmen.

This live album, originally released in 2004, was recorded on 22 August 2003 at The LUX Theatre in Nijmegen, The Netherlands as a semi-acoustic live performance and bears witness to how much the band can feel their music and deliver it live with a dense atmosphere. An impressive performance, which is now being re-released by MDD as a jewel case and exclusively in a special DigiPak edition.
