Music Millennium

Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and former black dub front woman Trixie Whitley has never shied away from blurring boundaries and defying musical genres. For her new album LACUNA Trixie collaborated with Run The Jewels producer Little Shalimar, dropping a fascinating and heady blend of hi-fi electronics, hypnotic rhythms and her signature vocals. Trixie Whitley is the daughter of musician Chris Whitley. Throughout her childhood and early adolescence, she led a nomadic transatlantic existence between Belgium, where she was born, and her father's residence in New York, until really settling in Brooklyn at age 17. There, she quickly caught the attention of renowned producer Daniel Lanois, who enlisted her to front his band Black Dub. Since 2013 Trixie has also emerged as a compelling solo artist and to date has released 2 critically acclaimed full albums. Her third album LACUNA released on March 29, 2019. She has performed and recorded with Robert Plant, Marianne Faithful, Meshell Ndegeocello, Daniel Lanois, Brian Blade, Daryl Johnson, Emmylou Harris, Marc Ribot, Joe Henry, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wollesen, Sam Cohen, Antibalas, Yuka Honda, Nels Cline, Mark Kelley, Joey Waronker, Mark Guiliana, Sam Amidon, Laurie Anderson, Chris Vatalaro and many more.
