They played an important part in popularizing the jazz subgenre of bebop beginning in the mid-1940s. Savoy A & R man Fred Mendelsohn coaxed Jimmy Scott out of his first retirement in 1955 for the recordings heard on this classic Savoy LP which includes many of Jimmy Scott's signature songs, immortalized over his 60 year career.
